For me personally, any new kind of sensation or pain triggers a panic attack

I was diagnosed with panic disorder when I was 11-12 years old. They were HORRIBLE. On a daily, I would have bouts of intense fear that hindered me from eating, going out or even functioning. The fear was so intense I would cry, shake, scream, and feel the chest tightness. The best way I can describe to ppl what it's like is like your brain and body are a car on top of a hill. Somebody pushes your "car" and it begins to roll down the hill. But when you push the brakes, they dont work and you just roll faster and faster and faster as the body of the "car" shakes and teeters and feels like its about to come undone. The only way it stops is when the hill goes flat...then who's to say when it'll occur again. And the vicious cycle repeats. Now I'm in my 30s, still dealing with this disorder but now I'm down to maybe once or twice a week of having an episode. And over time I have learned and used techniques provided by counselors and other veterans who suffer too. Grounding techniques, meditation (or deep prayer) doing a word puzzle, or even having my dog pick up on my cues of anxiety and then distracting me from those moments. I strongly strongly encourage counseling and learning calming techniques as ways to cope and gain back control. You are not crazy, or over emotional, or a burden. You're scared and that's ok. This can be handled but you have to WANT to regain control. Best to all of you who deal with this disorder.
UPDATE: I have made a HUGE improvement in my disorder. I'm down to maybe having a panic attack 1-2 times every few weeks. Therapy does work. I am proof. You can do it too if you are suffering! Good luck!

As someone who was just diagnosed with panic disorder, I suggest people not read the comments. They’re all very pessimistic and panic inducing. Save yourself the anxiety and just know that you will get better with time and effort.

Anxiety literally ruined my grades. I once am a top notcher but this year, I started having panic attacks everyday; 24/7 and dropped my grades from 90 average to about 60...

Hello everyone, I would like to share a little bit of my story on how I have lost it due to panic disorder.
Im currently 29 and have been struggling with this for 5 years now. When I first got my panic attack I thought I was going to die and well after that my life hasn't been normal since.
My world has gotten so small that I can only drive to places I know Or that are close to where I live, If not I don't go anywhere.
I have lost loved ones, friends as well as relationships being destroyed because of this.
I hate this feeling and Im tired all time. I want to live but this right here is not allowing me to do so.

I just got out of the hospital for this today. It was my 3rd one but the worst one I didn’t realize the other two were panic attacks. They come from no where when I’m not stressed or worried I started to believe there was something wrong with my health. I’m still learning about this and how to control this. I was convinced I was going to die today. Worst feeling ever

I've been suffering from panic attacks and from the fear and anxiety of getting them for over a year and a half now. My life has been a living hell and every day is torture. But being open about my disorder to others and knowing that I am not alone in this has made a difference.

I have bipolar 1 and panic disorder and when my panic disorder started i became afraid of my own inner monologue to the point where i couldnt think, read, or understand. I experienced 10 days of terror of never ending panic attacks. I used self-hypnosis to treat it, and it worked.

This beginning part of the video described someone having a panic attack, panic disorder is much worse than this and this video is not an accurate representation of what panic disorder is. The symptoms of panic disorder are much worse. Feeling disconnected from realitly(things were not real), while floating, uncontrollable muscle spasms, cartoony vision and fearing of passing out were regular symptoms of mine and it was the worst feeling in the world. For years i thought i was terminally ill or had cancer that was going to kill me because i felt this everyday for years. I cant even begin to tell my story here. I suffer from panic disorder and have been dealing with panic disorder for 12 years. I finally saw a doctor 4 weeks ago.

For me, I get my anxiety attacks before any exciting event, like my birthday or a vacation. I get worried that I will get sick and miss out. This spirals into me sometimes not going or worrying through the whole thing.

My stomach has butterflies when I have it but it’s overwhelming. Every thing I do my mind thinks of the worst possible options, even on vacations. My anxiety has took a toll on me and it is really difficult to live with simply because I’m always scared of the next panic attack
