Should You Learn to Swear in English? 🤬

In this English lesson I'll talk about whether or not it is important to learn to swear in English. English people do swear. I sometimes swear, but it is rare. In this English lesson I'll talk about when people swear, how often they swear, when they DON'T swear, and how important learning swear words are when you are learning English.

Basically, swearing is part of any language, and knowing when swearing is used, why it is used, and how it is used is a very important thing to know even if you don't plan on ever swearing yourself.

The last thing you want when speaking English is to use a swear word at the wrong time, when it is inappropriate, or in a way that doesn't make sense or offends people.

I hope you enjoy this English lesson about swearing!

⌛ Remember: Always watch the video three times. Twice today with English subtitles on, and once tomorrow with the English subtitles off. This will reinforce the English you have learned!

Hello from France!
Even though I don't like to say swear words, I confess that I like to hear them in movies, they make me laugh!
Thanks, Bob!

I never swear in my mother tongue, but I think learning those words is necessary to understand native speakers and movies - I do agree with you, thanks

My English tutor and I became good friends. Sometimes she'll swear and feel all guilty about it. I don't mind. I find it funny. And, as you said Bob, we don't need to use swear words but we need to learn them so we can recognize them! Thanks for this video!

Hi, Bob. I love all your videos. I’ve been watching your videos to improve my English while I am eating my breakfast every day. 😉 During this pandemic, almost all schools are closed. I was looking for an online English class. Fortunately I found you while I was watching YouTube. And I am living in New York. Your English accent is same as American English. That’s what I want. Thanks a lot for making these helpful videos. ❤️

I totally agree with you, Mr. Bob. I grew up in a no swearing environment, enven though I do it on some occasions, I don't think it's cool at all to swear out loud, especially in other languages. In my opinion the reason to learn swear words is that, as you rightly mentiones, to reconize it in order not to get pranked.

Hey Bob 🙋🏽‍♂️, As you said, it depends on the job, here in Mexico it is very common to say that people who work in construction or the mechanic also use many words that sound a bit bad, you have to learn bad words, not use them, I agree with you

Well, most of the dear words I know I've learnt from the TV-shows 😂😂. But it really does help to understand what's going on much better than to look for the word in a dictionary every time.

But a big problem for me is that Russian equivalents for those words aren't usually that bad. For example, H-E-🏒 -🏒 in Russian is not a swear word at all. So it takes some time to realize that these phrases mean much worse things in English.

And that "H-E-double hockey sticks" was just brilliant 😂😂 - love it!
Thank you for the lesson, Teacher Bob!

That transition from what it seemed like the F-word to “From” was well-played. A fun innovative way to start the video. Now, I felt a little urge to use emphatic swearing, with one of the milder substitutes for the F-bomb, to express how awesome this video was. What’s your take on that, Mr. Bob? Thank you.

Hello from France ! Thank you for this video! Yes I think it's important to know the words we want to avoid.... but to understand, just in case because I don't want to make mistakes like that and be embarrassed. Have a great day!

Your explanation is a crystal clear; I get about the swear words on how important they is, where and when they should be used and shouldn’t. Thank you so much.

You are fair and square in this lesson. I don’t really like to learn how to swear even though I love learning English. I think swearing can make me more upset and I prefer to have some ice cream in case I need to calm down.
