Excellent video. One input, I have not seen a surgeon that would call a lens swap "minor", especially if it is needed years later.

The narrator forgot to mention PCO ( posterior capsular opacification), a complication that occurs in 20 to 50% of all patients within 5 years of surgery. It's where the back or interior portion of the sac that contains the natural lens develops scar tissue and must be treated with a Yag laser to break up the scarring and allow light back in.

You can have corneal neuralgia after this operation and it can go on for a very long time; it's as if your eye is never going to feel normal, and you can feel the IOL in your eye. Sometimes it feels stabby or scratchy and can be worse depending on the movement of the eye or in certain positions such as lying down. It can cause a long delay in getting the other eye done.

Had my left eye done first. Vision was better but I had double vision. After my second eye the clarity of vision of course was better HOWEVER the double vision was more pronounced. It's horrible. I haven't gotten my prescription glasses yes but they will have a "filter" to correct the double vision. Meanwhile I ordered computer glasses because I could get them quicker and since I'm working from home (Covid) ALL my work is on the computer. The filter helps somewhat. However when I take glasses off the eyes need to readjust. Same as when I put the glasses back on. I will have double vision for the rest of my life. Sometimes it's not that noticeable as the dominant eye becomes, well, dominant in the brain. Most of the time the room feels like it's swirling around as the eyes try to focus making me nauseous. Developed cataracts immediately after unnecessary hysterectomy. Women, hold on to your estrogen, don't believe when they tell you post-menopausal ovaries don't do anything.

Thanks so much for the informative video. Eight months ago both my eyes had been through the procedure. My only issue is the swelling of the area in my skin under my eyes. They are filled with fluid and have added years to my appearance. I would not have had the procedure if I had known of the possibility of this potential side effect. I just wish I had my glasses back as I have not benefited from the surgery to any degree that I would have deemed "necessary" for my vision. Now I have tons of "Readers" instead of the recommended prescription eyeglasses.

Has anyone experienced imbalance or dizziness after the surgery. I had both after my first eye, it subsided, then a month after both were done, I am experiencing again. Appreciate your thoughts.

My self paid second opinion with an opthalmologist after 2 visits to the surgeon who did my cataract surgery, has shown my left lense is not in the correct position. To the person seeing the crescent, that's the edge of the lense you are seeing. Correction is not recommended, as can lead to complications.

There is not any info in this video about the prognosis and management of post-cataract surgery corneal edema.

What about secondary cataracts which is the most common problem?

I had my left eye done 3 days ago. I was a 20/250 in that eye. Now I am a 20/20. I had my right eye done in June of this year. That eye is also a 20/20.
Not bad, not bad at all. The Lord gave me the mental strength to do this. I also had NO sedation at all during both surgeries. I did perfect. I do not like drugs, at all.

I had cataract surgery as a child when I was a baby and one of the complications I got from the surgery was glaucoma.

I just had Cataract surgery and now I’m near blind because the surgeon wasn’t prepared AT ALL for any complications, even though he knew that my cataract was formed from a previous injury & lot of trauma to my eye when I was hit in the eye with a fishing sinker at high speed on the end of a fishing line & pole. This injury happened years before. After surgery on Tuesday he said that 1/3 the area of the support springs on my eye capsule that hold your new lens in place were gone & so he couldn’t put in a new lens. He also said part of capsule sack was flopping down in a way that would block the vision I wouldn’t have anyway & so he trimmed that out of the way. I woke up & all I could see was gray. After 3 days I can barely see anything & everything is VERY blurry with NO definition at all. I’m now wondering if they can fix this lens capsule & put a lens in or am I going to be blind in this eye now forever?

My mom has undergone this surgery 10 days back and still her vision is blurry she can't see anything few feet away. Would it be because of wrong lens implant?

At least somebody put it in the table...there were research on some drops that could avoid the knife saw it in 2014 but nothing has happened this is a very common surgery & profitable ...I believe they don't want these drops to take their business away😄 there's some diet that may stop it ... I get some blurriness & i'll hold as long as i can
Statistics from these comments show that it does have some secondary ugly effects a lot more than the 80% they claim and that secondary cataract that may happen is more costly

I had cataract surgery 6 years ago and only used to wear glasses to read. Every since the surgery I see double and have really bad depth perception and have to wear glasses for reading and far away. Wish I never had it done. My eye doctor can not answer why my sight is this way now. Shouldn't he know why??

my doctor missed my weak zonucles during obervation and said she ajusted for it durning sergury im now seeing shadows to the right side should i these shadows move around and come and go its not constantly there based on the light of the room or the position of my head or do you think maybe its broken zonucles moving around makeing the lens move.
