Sleep Apnea severity is on a spectrum, and knowing where you stand on that spectrum (if at all) is critical for optimizing sleep quality, health, and quality of life.

I read the title so wrong, thought it was about a serial killer who killed fat people and big neck guys

Felt so shitty through my teens, and I thought it was just depression. Little did I know the depression was induced by sleep apnea. Got first CPAP machine when I was 20 and it has changed my life

My sleep apnea was alcohol induced. One of many reasons to quit

It's not always something that affects overweight individuals. I'm lean and have sleep apnea because my jaw when I sleep relaxes and shifts into an overbite, causing my tongue to fall back into my throat. This causes me to snore like a walrus and was diagnosed by an ENT consultant. It was my partner that alerted me to my awful snoring and my daily tiredness that was the indicators for me

Used to be a big traps/delts upper body in general guy and have since gained about 35kg (down 10 from there atm and working on it). This has convinced me to finally go do a sleep study.

When I was 25 I got sleep study done and i found out I quit breathing 80 times an hour, my oxygen saturation was dropping into the low seventies. They only count it if you stop breathing for over ten seconds, I’ve only met a few people that had it as bad as me. It’s genetic in my family, I had it even before I started bodybuilding. Getting a cpap machine dropped my blood pressure significantly. I would advise anyone who even suspects they have sleep apnea or can’t keep their bp under control even with meds to get a sleep study, at that time I had already started to get thickening on my left ventricle. I’m 32 now and my blood pressure has been good ever since I got the machine. Takes a little bit to get used to but now I notice when I don’t use it I wake up feeling like complete sht

The part that most people don’t know is that it is also actually quite common in thin people as well. I’m 5’10 160 pounds and I have it because of the natural shape of my face, jaw which caused me to have a small airway.

I'm in the UK and it took years and years for sleep apnea to be diagnosed. I was just constantly tired and fatigued throughout my 20's I was getting to the point where I felt I couldn't continue with life. Sad times.

Prior service with sleep apnea. I'm 180, go to the gym 6 day per week, and track calories. Still have it

My sleep apnea was from my tongue collapsing in my throat. I’m 6’6” and 205 so the doctors were puzzled initially until they ran further tests. I had no idea I had a problem. My dad told me when I was 18 that I had sleep apnea and I didn’t listen to him. Didn’t get it fixed until I was 33. Now I have an inspire implant.. thank you VA haha.

6'5 used to be over 450lbs my sleep apnea was bad I didn't know how bad till one morning friends had crashed at my place and one of the girls told me I had stopped Breathing for over 2min at one point. I brushed it off until I was woken up by my SO one day saying she was trying to wake me because she noticed I wasn't breathing and I was struggling and hit her in the process. I'm now 220-40 depending on the day of the week lol but still have the problem. Get the study if you think you might have an be the best night's sleep you've had in a while lol

After a couple of months of my wife telling me I need to get tested, my fitbit telling me I really only slept 45 minutes or so throughout the night and just feeling like a zombie all day everyday, I finally decided to the doctor and do a sleep study. They discovered that I stop breathing an astounding 117 times in an hour. I was months away from a serious stroke if I didn't get my sleep apnea treated. It's been around 3 years since I started using a CPAP and it has made a world of difference for me.

I have sleep apnea. I can’t do the cpap. It’s not comfortable and I end up waking up in a panic because of my cpap plowing air down my throat. It’s not great. Lol

my sleep apnea was caused directly by a nasal surgery. however, at the time i was a heavy drinker and ate anything, more than likely woulda had it as I aged and wouldn't have made the right choices
