I have never really thought about this until now. When I was 19, I worked with a lady whose car had broken down. I remember her telling everyone at work. She started her shift hours before mine, but at the end of her shift, I asked if she'd gotten a ride to pick up her 3 sons from school? She said, "Well, no one offered." I gave her they key to my little old clunker and told her to just be back to puck me up when I get off. She had tears in her eyes as she took my key. When she arrived after my shift, she had a plate of home cooked food for me. I told it it wasn't necessary, but she insisted. It was sooo good. It took her about 3 months to save enough money to get her car fixed, but every night, when she picked me up, she had a plate of food. I made sure there was a full tank of gas because i didn't want her to feel like she had to put gas knowing her situation. (She walked to work every morning) The day I took her by to pick up her car she said "I'll never be able to repay you for helping me out" I told her we were even she fed me dinner every night.
I worked 2 jobs. I couldn't help her get to work, but she remembered me every birthday and baked me a small cake. I loved her like my own Momma.
Sometimes, a little is just what someone needs to help A LOT. Be kind.

I was a nurse for 40 years. I did and saw just about everything. The intensity, stress and sheer exhaustion was real but it was nothing compared to being a single parent. You can't punch out and collapse after your parent shift. It's always you and only you hour after hour, day after day and month after month with no change in sight for years. You know you are not enough for your kids and never will be.
So many ppl would tell me that I needed to fix this or that but wouldn't offer to help or they would listen to me trying to find a ride for my kids or to pick up my car at the shop but never offer a ride. I wasnt strong, I was broken and hemorrhaging while ppl watched and told me I was strong so they didn't have to feel guilty about not sacrificing a hot second of their time or energy to help. So when she says I'm not strong, I'm resilient, I say amen and amen. My strength came from being on my knees before Jesus.

I worked with a guy who was a single dad, he chose to be the single dad because he found out his girl was on meth after the birth of his daughter. He took his daughter and left the girlfriend, his daughter is now a teen that knows her self-worth, is confident, always smiling and knows dad has her back

My dad raised 6 girls alone. He didn't date until the last child left home.
Every Mother's Day, we send him a card as well on Father's day. He loves it
