You’re probably familiar with gigabytes -- like how many your smartphone has -- or even terabytes -- like in an external hard drive. But have you heard of a yottabyte? A yottabyte is the largest unit of data quantity approved by the International System of Units. It’s so big that it can’t be used to measure anything in the world -- yet. Experts anticipate that the world will reach data levels in the yottabytes within a decade.

I guess we can probably upload all 8 billion human consciousness into data network with yottabyte scale, assuming each human consciousness is like several terabytes

I mean if we tried to map out a universe map we might need a exabyte of storage ngl

Considering that a YB-sized data center would be the size of Delaware under our current tech limitations, it would be much more realistic to have the data center be lunar or orbital. This is doable, we have the engineering to support it, and cooling the hardware is easier as the heat buildup can be radiated into space. It's a matter of having the financial willpower to support it, but if undertaken, the datacenter could be a boon to NASA's scientific endeavors and a unique experiment in orbital or lunar construction.

At 0:33 when you said a yottabyte was the largest byte scale we’ll have you ever heard of the geopbyte it’s 1024 brontabytes

Quote from the IIntelligent World 2030 by Huawei...
The smartphone in your pocket already carries more computing power than the Apollo shuttle that
took us to the moon in 1969. By 2030, general computing power (FP32) will reach 3.3 ZFLOPS and AI
computing power (FP16) will reach 105 ZFLOPS, a 500-fold increase over 2020. This will mean over 1
yottabyte of data will be generated around the world annually
