The lore behind Terraria (Full story)

While Terraria is like a lot of other games where it appears there is no story and lore, that actually isn't the case. To celebrate Terraria's 8th anniversary, relogic released some official lore to go along with Terraria which explains what your purpose is, the different biomes, what the bosses are, and much more which I go over in this video

It actually directly says in the lore that the dryads banished Cthulhu to the dark side of the moon. Moon lord is canonically Cthulhu.

One point you missed: ocram is not canon, he was the last mech boss that they were going to build. They never finished him though.

the moon lord is such a perfect final boss to terraria, given all the hints and signs of their influence, the deadly moon events, and bosses only appearing and fighting at night, and such... I think its really clever and cool!

One quick thing:
The princess and the witch doctor (the latter being a lizhard himself) are working together to establish contact with the lizhards, not just living happy lives together

One of the princess quotes even mentions her wanting to make peace with the lizhards.

Some parts that you missed are:
The crimson is a hivemind and the "leader" is the brain of cthulhu who created the crimson after being separated from his body.

The eye of cthulhu is also a separated body part and it's actually looking for cthulhu.

Skeletron is cthulhu's bones that, when separated got so angry that they came to life and cursed the clothier (and dungeon).

The mechs are cthulhu's eyes, bones, and spine, the only part that he needed to become whole again was his brain (ocram) but we freed the mechanic and killed the cultist before that could happen or else we would have to fight cthulhu and not moonlord.

Plantera only appears after the mech bosses because of the radio active fallout they leave when they are destroyed.

I have a theory that the clothier might have been brainwashed into temporarily becoming a member of the lunatic cult. In one of the clothier’s dialogues, he says that he has vague memories of tying up the mechanic.

The sad thing with Dryad's ending is that, since you['ve purified the evil in the world by removing the evil biomes and killing moonlord, she serves no more purpose (which was defending the world from evil) and since she had no more purpose she turned into a tree to live out her last few days

Wait if the mechanical bosses are remade parts of cuthulu... what is the destroyer? 😳

Terraria has references to several mythologies. However, it's mostly based off the Necronomicon by H.P. Lovecraft, which was based off Philippine/Indonesian Mythology, where Cthulhu and Kthanid(MoonLord) were twin brother gods of the moon and ocean

I personally like to think of the guide as a past warrior who failed to stop moonlord in the past. So now he has you as an apprentice. Him opening doors is his way of training who so you wouldn't avoid enemies.

Those ending made me so sad! I’ve been playing this game for so long, and to see these people finally get to live out their lives without fear and get their happily ever afters is so bitter sweet to me.

Why are people debating if moon lord is cuthulu or not…one of the things he literally attacks you with is called “true eye of cuthulu” 💀

The order of the guide must not like it when I have to kill like 10 of them to get the correct emblem.

You could actually see cthulhu's bones, skull, rib cage in crimson biome background

At one point I thought I heard that the Moon Lord was Cthulhu’s brother that came with the lunar pillars from the moon to take revenge after you stop the Cthulhu summoning ritual by killing the Lunatic Cultist. Guess I was wrong?

Seeing the skeleton merchant's smile bubble over his head was honestly kinda cute

Like he seems so excited about finding something to sell

if not killing the cultist does not summon the moonlord, then why is it said that terrarians must kill the cultist to prevent moonlord from coming to terraria?

Order of the guide! This lore is absolutely mad! I thought that there would be some big Cthulhu somewhere in the lore but the fact that it might actually be Moonlord is absolutely insane. I wish that we did get a little bit more about how Ocram was part of Cthulhu because that really struck my interest. I love terraria and have wanted to know more about the lore! Thanks!
