There are different types of aphasia.

Wernicke’s aphasia (sensory aphasia) :
The patient has fluent speech but is unable to understand speech, words or grammar
Broca's aphasia (motor aphasia):
The patient understands speech but is unable to produce fluent speech
Conduction aphasia:
Repetition impaired only

There may be several causes of aphasia. Strokes in specific parts of the brain are associated with specific types of aphasia. Aphasia can also be a part of dementia.

Thirty years ago I suffered a TBI. 45 lbs intracranial pressure that tried to push my eyeballs out of my skull. When I was taken out of the coma, I eventually was handed a dinner menu. It was strange that in my mind I can read the words like beef, chicken, potatoes etc. But I struggled to UNDERSTAND what they were. And for years to follow I would feel bad that people expressed frustration when I asked them to repeat themselves. I wouldn't want to go through that again.

I had an aneurysm and aphasia. I learn that Frankincense (essential oil). I tried at around 7 years after I had it, and I am not perfect but most don’t even not that I had that. The first year with there family and I was talking. Then I want in my brain - and what did I say. I was saying five, five, five, five, five with accent. So, yes I am so much better! Frankincense Frankincense Frankincense!

Did Bruce Willis ever reveal what type of aphasia he was diagnosed with or what caused it? I think Monty Python member Terry Jones also had aphasia towards the end of his life (he had frontotemporal dementia).

I was unable to remember names of anything or anyone at the age of 29 when I suddenly suffered a severe seizure. I was never treated for it as the doctors said it was just the medication causing my bad memory. I've spent forty years teaching myself to remember the names of things since then without much success. What would you call this condition? It stops me in my tracks in conversation all the time.

Got this from a stroke although thankfully i understand fine and it's intermittent. But it's no end of frustrating when you open you speak and realize what you say made no sense. Did this in front of a very religious lady once and i thought she was going to get an exorcist.🤣

Sir my father got aphasia, he can't speak aftet stroke .. i think its broccas aphasia. What is best way to get back his speech ?
