OFC is the opposite of CONMEBOL both have the least teams but CONMEBOL has had 1 team to not qualify and OFC has had 1 team to qualify

Always felt it was a bit unfair how Oceania doesn't have a secured spot in the World Cup. It would just make sense to have every confederation take part in it

Fun fact, Venezuela has reached high spots in the FIFA rankings being 25th the highest, even though is the only CONMEBOL team never qualified to a WC, if you put them in any other confederation, this country would have for sure higher probabilities to qualify.

If anyone is asking why Australia switched from OFC to AFC is because since OFC was the only confederation that didn't have a guaranteed spot (0.5) since they have to qualify through the inter-continental playoffs after getting past the OFC qualifiers considering they'd have to play a stronger team than them from either CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, or AFC. Because of that Australia made the switch to AFC to have better competition and earn automatic qualification. And also we haven't seen an OFC team at the World Cup since New Zealand in 2010 (lost to Mexico for 2014, lost to Peru for 2018, and lost to Costa Rica for 2022) but thankfully they now have a guaranteed spot because of the expanded format with the possibility of getting a second through the playoffs

Conmebol has BY FAR the highest level of teams overall around the world.
Every single one of their teams can beat every team of every other confederation except exactly previous WC winners like Germany or France.

For the majority of the World Cups it was only teams from Europe and South America and maybe a couple of teams from the rest of the world. It wasn’t until 1990 that teams from Africa had more places available to them than teams from the UK.

Fun fact: Australia is part of the AFC because when they would play with the other teams in Oceania they would win 31-0 so they had to play as a part of Asia
