At least Krup was a decent replacement.

The funny thing is that now that swear words are so common in musical theatre, “Krup you” ended up being more unique and memorable with time

This video doesn’t make it clear, but the person who actually came up with the idea of “Krup you” was Leonard Bernstein. 25 years later Bernstein wrote the first opera that included English curse words, “A Quiet Place.” (Though several Broadway musicals had already included them by that time, including Hair, A Chorus Line, and Sondheim’s own Company.)

You know what's funny is the more I listen to the Jet Song when they say "every last buggin' gang on the whole buggin' street" all I can hear is "every last f***in' gang on the whole f***in' street, on the whole ever mother f***in' street" 💀

Tbh, "krup you" is better since it sounds like "officer krupky"

What was the first musical to have a song with a four letter word in it? (I feel this is a Broadway trivia question we should all know the answer to!!)
