When I cut something off a yard of fabric, I put a note on it saying how much is left over - makes it easier down the road to know what I have.

All the colors are just so happy! I have a very small sewing space and I live in the southwest where there is a LOT of enchantment (aka dust). So I store my fabric in plastic boxes with lids. All my yardage from 1/2 yard up I wrap on the comic book boards (BEST idea ever!) and store them in the Tall Shoe Box from The Container Store. They measure 13x7-1/2x8-1/4, so they’re just the right size for the mini bolts and since the box is clear, I can see from the top what is in each box. Plus, the cost of each box is only $5.79 so you’re not breaking the bank. All the boxes for neatly on a book shelf, keeping my little sewing area tidy and organized.

I like how you organize fabric. I like how you store the bigger pieces for backing. I plan to order some of those cards. I quilt and I sew clothes too. What I have for fabric storage is a cabinet with glass doors. Right now that dress, sundress, skirt, pants, etc fabric is piled in that pretty glass cabinet. I think the mini bolt way you showed is perfect for me to organize that fabric. Thank you for explaining your process. It motivates me to improve my storage for my fabric. Have a great day. 😁

I have been putting my scraps of yarn and small yarn ball in jars for years. I absolutely love it! Stuff in jars just looks so cute!! One day I'm going to own enough buttons to have them separated into jars!!!!

I use the comic book boards too, I always write the yardage on the boards so I know how much fabric I have since I also sew clothes, I buy different yardages all the time!

I love your fabric color selection. That is my favorite blue. I can’t have fabric sitting out like this because I have cats. They love to climb onto the shelves and their fur would be stuck to the fabric. Once my kids move out I will have a sewing room where I can leave them on display. IKEA shelves are the best though. All my stuff is in them but inside their canvas boxes.
