As this video goes live, I'd like to add a quick disclaimer, which will dutifully be ignored by the comments section.

Whilst inflation isn't the direct driver of pricing, it's a fair indicator of the general direction of pricing. That Forge World, thanks to regional price fixing and Games Workshop's blatant greed has got us to this point is the entire point of the episode. Yes, prices rise, and we expect them fully to do so, but it's the degree to which they do so that matters.

Games Workshop's price bloating has renewed my interest in the hobby. I took $320 I probably would have spent on models and bought an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro. I've enjoyed the hobby ever since! Get yourself a printer, folks, they're even cheaper now.

It's honestly ridiculous how a small resin ~30mm miniature from fw can cost as much as a 75mm resin mini fron literraly anybody else.

You also need to take into account that the AU was much stronger in 2012 compared with now. Not that I expect prices to come down after the pound weakened.

its simple, publicly traded companies are by law forced to be as greedy as possible
if they can get away with something, they will do it and they will infinitely push that boundary as much as possible
shareholders can literally sue if they have reason to believe they arent greedy enough

No need to buy most things from gw even if you don't want to fork out for a printer someone in your community will. I just paid a guy to print me 12 thalax for 20 euros which i swear look better then the Fw ones

I remember just barely being able to buy a Leviathan and a Sicaran tank from them and being so happy. Now? With all of the inflation and cost increases and other crap, along with the stuff I can't buy because they murdered their product ranges. 3D printer go

As a Custodes player I despise forge world… but damn do some of those look good

We're not AS bad off in the Euro zone but their internal exchange rate is still silly.
Even competitively priced shops here in Germany have about the same effective asking-price as if I were to order at GW UK, but they obviously wouldn't ship to me.
UK discount shops are a real bargain but thanks to the most glorious turd that is the Brexit this would be eaten up by customs and fees.
So we are just worse off in general as well.

Thank goodness I am now getting into Battletech more than 40k, its far better than forking out hundreds for a few minis where I only need to play £22 to get started and go from there.

FW has a ton of smexy stuph but it's always been 3 to 4 times out of my range, and with GW going full boutique collectors they've out priced me by 30-50% and growing year by year for less models which are poorer quality that other third party sellers and stls do cheaper at better quality. I should be paying just around 15% over gpb but GW love to screw me and the UK retailers that would love to sell me at retail where I may or may not take a small hit on postage and still get the best deal and save 20%. In a nutshell GW are just crooks.

What is this Forge World you speak of? I know China Forge and they got some awesome MK2 over there🤭😜
