Tesla's new charging & preconditioning scheduler (2024.26.3.1 in July 2024)

Tesla have updated their charging and preconditioning scheduler in the latest OTA (over the air) update version 2024.26.3.1. This is a welcome change as the previous method was pretty awful.
Now you can setup both a pre-conditioning and a charging schedule, based on location and set both a start and stop time (yah!) with days of the week. Its simple and easy to use, yet comprehensive enough.

It's a good thing they added this, I've been missing it since 2022 when I bought my first Tesla, although you could control the start stop times with a combination of charge limit, Off-peak hours in the app and TeslaFI, but it could not always be controlled as precisely as with this update :)
And it's good when you live in a country where you can't get a cheap overnight tariff and the general cheapest solution is a power price that changes hour by hour, but there can still be a very large difference in price hour by hour.

The only thing they just forgot to fix is that not all countries use AM/PM clocks, so I just had to search what was what AM/PM when I needed it yesterday :)

I had a Tesla Wall Charger installed when I bought my '24 M3LR. Through the Tesla app I can tell the charger that it can only be used from 10:15 PM to 5:45 AM to take advantage of my 10 PM - 6 AM off-peak rates. The 7.5 hour window I allow is enough to add 75% to my battery, so never have to worry about having enough charge in the morning.

Would be nicer if we could create a schedule with different target charge percentage each day. Like 80% Sunday to Friday. With 100% on Friday.

Glad this is finally happening. Two questions: 1. Does this mean we no longer have an option for Scheduled Departure charging?
2. If you set the start time to midnight and the end time to 9 AM and the car only needs two hours of charging, when will that charging happen?

I still don’t see the option for preset cabin temperature for precondition. It’s still the same temp as when leave the car.

Is it possible to schedule precondition without including climate control? Charging at 11.30pm I would like this feature - or is it not worth it for home charging?

Not missed this before. My intelligent wallbox either charges when there is enough sun available or when the grid price is low.

Am I correct in thinking that if you are with Octopus Energy, they automatically schedule your off peak charging without the need to set any times within the car or via the charger app settings?

I got this update last week, I think, but it is not working for me. I can set the charging schedule in the car, but it doesn't start charging when the time comes around. I have to start it manually. In the app, I can put all the numbers in and hit create and the app reports "add changing schedule failed". Also, I can no longer change my charging rate from the app. It reports "set charge current failed". I am waiting for a Tesla service appointment. In Canada, 2021 Model 3 AWD.

Just got my new model y and its software version is 2024.20.100, is there a way to get it to update to latest? I’ve set advance updates and it doesn’t seem to trigger an update.

Isn't anyone else getting tired of seeing features in the Tesla software that they don't have? I know 8 people that have various models of Tesla's and NONE of them have this version or several that precedes it. There is just something screwy about this process.
