Moral of the story: buy the OnePlus 7T for $500 right now. 5G isn't really there yet and I think the camera on the 7T is a good balance between the 8 and 8 Pro. These new phones are just overpriced..

Keen to see a comparison of this and Sony Xperia 1 ii when that finally launches. The Xperia 1 ii is still on paper the mobile that excites me the most. Especially since it keeps front facing speakers, brings back the audio jack with a good DAC, dual sim, fingerprint in power button, massive primary sensor, a screen that despite my initial reservations about the aspect ratio is actually pretty useful for day to day use.

The 8 Pro it is a good deal, let's be honest, everyone was crying and rating about the lack of Wireless Charging, IP Rating and bad camera, now, that is solved, so no complaints with that model.

The 8 is Dead on arrival, it is a downgrade to the 7T pro that it is what everyone should get. I'm disappointed with 1+, the 8 should have been an 7T Pro with the 8 Desing and IP rating.

The way forward is buy last year's OnePlus when the new one comes out. Then only do it every 2 years. The phones have such high specs you won't really be missing out on anything. I'm still on the 6t got the 8G RAM 256 memory for £370 about 6 months ago. Still running fine, saved loads of money on it. Probably wait for the 9 t to come out, then might get the 8. Makes sense to me.

Yeah the general consensus is the normal OnePlus 8 compromises too much in many areas big and small. If you getting OnePlus 8 then aim for the Pro version.

What's interesting about the OnePlus 8 is that it's more like an 865 and 5G equipped 7 Pro with a wider aspect ratio, a camera cutout, removal of the tele lens for a dedicated macro lens in its place, and slightly less resolution.
