Spread this far and wide. It not only speaks to the haters but to those who yearn for peace and healing. It shouts loudly at the politicians who claim to govern, rule, keep peace and law and order. Do you feel safe on your streets? Can we ignore the violence in our world? Spread this far and wide.

Amazing! I plan to use this poem in my lesson with students. Would you mind if I use a transcript of the poem to share online with other teachers? I think this would be a great teaching resource.

So the violence occurs in silence, but you can't fight violence with silence? I just don't think you should use legislation to manage toxic emotions and motivational systems in the population no matter how poetic you can make it sound.

Sorry I meant that really made me think. Thanks

So you can't fight hate with silence, right? But you want to blur the lines of hate crime to such an extent that addressing the hateful use of certain ideologies in a critical manner will potentially have you arrested and charged... make you lose your job, your life..? So what else is there but silence as an option?

You say we need a climate where we can openly address issues of hate, but- let me guess- it is only if they're the forms of hate that when criticised will not compromise the dominant societal narrative?

It just seems a little Orwellian.

Nobody wants to see actual hate crime in society, but it seems only a few don't want to see legitimate critique of harmful (and hateful) ideological leanings labelled as 'hate crime' in order to conform to a party-political narrative that relies on such labelling.
