Turkish Heavy Cavalry “Sipahi” armour on display at the Türckische Cammer in Dresden. The feudal-based Sipahi cavalry were a core feature of Turkish armies from the 15th through to the late 18th centuries. The Turkish cavalry was divided in to two main groups: the Akinjis (Akıncılar), the lightly armoured archers whose primary role was reconnaissance and harrying of the enemy; and the Sipahis (Sipahiler), the heavy cavalry, who wore mail and plate armours and rode armoured horses. #History #Cavalry

Dresden'deki Türckische Cammer'de sergilenen Türk Sipahi (Ağır Süvari) zırhı. Feodal tabanlı süvariler olan Sipahiler, 15. yüzyıldan 18. yüzyıla kadar Türk ordusunun temel bir unsuruydu.
