BS. I also used to earn 5 lacs a month on Upwork, but they won’t tell you that you don’t actually get paid work for 3-4 months, you spend that time looking for clients. Bear in mind that’s not a holiday, you still work 8 hours or more trying to find your next gig.

Most people only get work for half the year. Also these platforms can charge 15-20% of your income as platform fee, then dollar to inr transfer fee and then govt taxes.

So if I earn 5 lacs per month- I’ll actually get 35-42 lacs annually in my bank account, pre tax. After taxes it will be 27-32 lacs per annum.

Now imagine his net earnings, if he was at 3 lacs per month.
