Ling Yang Air "Dodge" Mechanic:
There are a few properties that help him do so.
1. He gains armor while in the air after using heavy attack, which means he doesn't get staggered from normal hits like other characters
2. He actively chases aerial targets, and most of the time aerial opponents' attacks are meant for resonators on the ground. Thanks to hitbox magic, Lingyang can avoid those attacks.
3. His basic attacks are quite fast, meaning you usually parry attacks without having to go out of your way to time them right.

One thing you didn't mention is that you don't need a full lion spirit forte bar to activate lion state with his resonance liberation. You only need 40%.

Thanks for the guide! The combo part especially helped alot, I just wanted to ask though if diminishing returns might also be a thing here so i wanted to ask other people's thoughts on it! Lingyang because of his resonance liberation and with outro skill buffs might possibly have alot of dmg% in comparison to atk% especially with lampylumen echo skill and the sonata too so I was thinking if running an atk % 3 cost might be good or even possibly optimal in that case! Or maybe even going 2x glacio damage bonus with the atk% set instead since he's one if the few that can benefit from it best since he's discouraged from switching while his forte circuit is active and he has the second highest outro skill scaling (highest is encore but it's aoe). It might also be less vulnerable to use the mech boss echo too since iirc it doesn't lock you into an animation! Was just curious about other people's thoughts on it sorry for the long comment JXSJXJSJ

I think most ppl do not have issue with Lingyang's dps. They complain about how vulnerable he is in the air, having only one dodge until he touches the ground and gets back up in the air. This is indeed daunting, since some bosses in the game attack very rapidly and you can't parry all attacks, only the special ones. Meaning you have only 1 dodge to stop a flurry of attacks, some of which one-shot you... This problem is only exacerbated, when fighting multiple enemies, since now you have to avoid multiple combos with only 1 dodge available. Another issue is his lack of aoe dmg

Too bad his best resonance chain is locked behind the 6th one. As we get to the late late game where all we do is echo exp farming, he's gonna be top tier boss killer just because of how he deals his damage. Boss in the tower is a joke compared to hologram ones and they're just a chunk of HP.

As LingYang main from day 1 I think his dmg is the lowest among the 5s DPS units. Underrated? I don't think so, he is just bad compares to other DPS units in his rarity. So its simple to understand that people want to play meta will ignore him. As for non meta players, waifu/husbando > Furry shota.
