Not clearly stated, but the Lexus 3.5 V6 is the same as the Toyota engine. Why don't other manufacturers follow Toyota's M.O. If it works, don't change it. I almost said " if it ain't broke", but for some brands, they can't help it.

A very good friend of mine in Edmonton bought a Ridgeline a few years ago with the 3.5 and it has been bullet proof so far. His girlfriend loved it so much she bought one too!

How about the 5.7 L V8 on the sequoia! Great engine great transmission. Very reliable and smooth!

Common trend is adding the turbo engines for increased fuel mileage to satisfy CAFE requirements, although decreasing reliability and increasing maintenance costs in the future for the owners!

You seem impressed with bells and whistles, in particular headlights, trim and badges

My boss at work has a 2019 Expedition that he got new with the V6 EcoBoost and he can easily tow a 6, 000-lb camper...he has 165, 000 miles and not one problem yet...15 mpg city and 27 mpg highway that is insane for such a huge heavy vehicle...He said he got it to have the towing and the keypad entry to lock the keys and phones in when swimming in the lake...he said he will drive it till the wheels fall off...They have 5 kids, so they needed the huge amount of space...

I think it is about time another car company was mentioned in terms of reliability. In 2015 my cousin bought a Mazda CX5. Other than routine maintenance, replacing a battery and tires, he has had no issues whatever with it. I am purchasing one now, for much less than the comparable Honda or Toyota. Regarding the Ford SUV, I was taught that If you can say something good, don’t say anything at all. So regarding the Ford, I will just say………………..

I'm quite disappointed that Honda didn't change to a timing chain when they redesigned the 3.5L to be DOHC with better emissions. I agree that it will run forever if you do timing chain maintenance, but changing the belt is *expensive* and something not needed (as often) with the Toyota 3.5L.

Wife’s boss had a 2022 expedition limited in which the dealership called her to tell her it was on recall but also park it outside the garage as it may catch on fire. She told them come pick it up and they told her no.

I just bought the hybrid highlander compared it to the v6. Now I'm wondering if I should have got the v6? I was to the hybrid would last longer at both dealership

Owned a 98 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition. Loved it. Was going to get another Expedition but walked away when they dropped the V8. I walked away from Toyota also when they dropped the 5.7. Insane repair cost outside of warranty.

Great list except for the Ford 3.5L ECOCRAP turbo. I have the last generation Lexus RX350 with the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 and will keep it until the end of time. It's a somewhat boring, luxurious ride that had been absolutely reliable. Easily gets 28-29 MPG on the highway with regular 87 octane fuel. The Toyota Highlander shares the exact same engine, trans & platform. Both are equally reliable.

The older Toyota V8s & V6s will last forever. The jury is out if these modern turbo 4S with annoying stop/start can last.

This would've been a great video to divide into segments.
