Ultimately, your objective, the genre, the mood, and the setting is going to direct your workflow, as well as the source material, so get creative, as you can bend and break the rules! However, these are some good foundations of cleaning up the vocal / housekeeping, coloring, compressing, and widening the vocal with harmonies, chorus, etc, can really make it shine! Enjoy!
