This is NOT a sponsored video.

WWF asked if I would be up for making some content about Earth Hour and I said yes.

Thanks!

I've teamed up with:

and we've put together a bunch of ideas for Earth Hour. Sure, we can turn out our lights and unplug our electrical.... but this year WWF are calling on everyone to make a #PromiseToThePlanet so I thought why not kick start the promises during Earth Hour!

Make sure you check out their blog posts for even more ideas!

Happy Earth Hour!

Happy news! To maintain a wildflower meadow you have to cut the grass for hay every year. So probably it was just being well maintained! If you don't harvest the hay every year it just becomes a bramble patch and eventually a forest.

Oh my gosh Kate, DO THE SOIL HEALTH VIDEO! Love that idea. :) Honestly, YouTube doesn't have enough intelligent content and topics like this sorely need representation. Would be especially relevant for this time of year as everything in the northern hemisphere is starting to thaw and garden centers are starting to put out there seeds/starters. :)

I entered Good Energy's Keep Cup giveway not thinking, "Oh hey, I'm in America". I actually won, but they couldn't send them. I was so bummed! That aside, this was so unbelievably helpful and useful!!! Thank you Kate!

Have you heard of ecosia? I use ecosia as my search engine and for every 45 searches you do a tree gets planted. I think it's 45 searches but it's definitely worth looking into if you haven't already. Going to have a look at these ethical banks now 🙂

Incredible and so important info! I am switching my bank, I thought before, that all banks are bad... And online unpackaged shopping will benefit so many people, who struggle to find it locally, I will be sharing this info non stop now!

I think a video about Soil Health would be really interesting to watch (a sentence I didn't think I would ever say). As I know that even something as simple as not rotating crops has a negative effect but I wouldn't really know what is healthy and what is not (I would guess dry but lack of rain can also cause that).

I really love this channel. I'm just sad that most of the services that she talks about are local to her and I live in the US, but at least I'll get started by switching to bamboo toilet paper.

I love that you have soil health on the mind. This is definitely one of the huge hurdles to truly earth-friendly thinking for most people. I have been learning so much about this topic and contemplating how to help other's understand it better. I feel like the root cause is not understanding the role of microorganisms in fundamental processes like carbon cycling, nitrification and aggregation. Nearly everything we do in human societies today disrupts, slows down or outright destroys these processes. It is literally desertifying our planet at an alarming rate. But there is hope. The more people learn about this topic, the better decisions they can make as consumers. Feel free to message me if you would like links to resources that may help.

My husband and I have started a soil health/human health group that meets at our house every two weeks. (I am a British expat married to an American) - we plan to video it this Saturday so I will be sure to share the link with you. Elaine Ingham is a lady worth hearing from - she is a top soil scientist who we had the pleasure of meeting at a soil science conference we went to in Massachusetts back in November. Also Dan Kittredge - find him on YouTube as well as watch Paul Gautschi’s Back to Eden video - maybe that can be your Earth Hour documentary this year?!

That Mylk tastes really good! I had it from Bulk Market (waiting for them to reopen now!), I think you can buy his mylk from few other stores. He delivers to home only around Dalston.

This video is so important! Unfortunatelly here in brazil most of these things aren't options for the population. But we do what we can

Many thanks Kate for doing the research for us - I get a little lost in how to find resources to reduce waste. Have used your info to start my journey.

So sad to heard about the meadows in the UK. I went to wedding in Liverpool 1, 5 year ago and one of the wedding favours we got were British wildflower seeds. A little tips for all the eco conscious soon to be weds!
