★★★★★ FIELD TEST Z-Trek Review - Xero Shoes, Z-trek - The Lightweight Packable Sport Sandal - Men

Hint: Go according their EXACT sizing, even if you swear by your size. Re-measure! You just might be surprised.
Pros:
- Compared to the Z-trail shoes, I love these especially because they "curve up" on the edges for added protection. I wear these Z-Treks on the trail, and I use the more-padded Z-Trails NOT on the trail but just trekking and walking around on cement-type surfaces. (I know I know... the names seem a little backwards to me; Z-Trek I use for the trail. Z-Trail I use for walking around/trekking.).
- Ultra-lightweight--perfect for backpacking (I use them as my "secondary shoes" when we get into camp, and also a bit on the trail to give my feet a rest from my massive boots).
- Grippy base. I barely slipped on some hairy surfaces (see video).
- Compact and easy to travel with.
- Comfy and barely slides once it's in place. I didn't have to adjust it all.

Cons: (more like "notes")
- Gets sweaty against the rubber, which is fine if I'm on a hike (I don't care)--just be aware of this if you plan on walking around all day (e.g. at work) with these.
- Thin base. I know this is the point of "barefoot shoes," just be very, very intentional with where you step. You will feel the smallest rock through these, which can be a good that you're "feeling the earth" (you hippy, you!) or not so good because small bits of pain can stack up on a hike... making a miserable hike. Don't mentally check out! Watch where you step!

I’ve hiked in sandals for years, I’ve always thought getting your feet all dirty and muddy was part of the fun 😀. I’ve had Teva and others and recently transitioned to barefoot style. I actually have the Xero Genesis- they are actually marketed as a beach and water sandal, but I have had no problems on trails, even on steep rocky and loose terrain. I chose them for for their ultra minimalist profile. The footbed is actually thinner, they drain water well and the shock cords don’t seem to trap as much debris as straps. Good advice to ease into wearing them, it takes time to get your body adjusted. Good review.

Good review! You bunch remind me of the Flintstones with Pebbles and Bambam. 😉

This is review I was looking for, instead I had scroll through a bunch other yahoos who were showcasing their faces instead of showing this sandal in action. Thank you.
