Beowulf Fantasy, Mvt II Grendel at the Hart for concert band

Beowulf Fantasy, Mvt.II: Grendel at the Hart is the second movement of a suite that portrays the epic Beowulf poem. This movement interprets the part of the poem that tells of Beowulf coming to the aid of King Hrothgar against Grendel. Hrothgar holds a feast to welcome Beowulf. The feast is held in his mead hall, Heorot, knows as the Hart. Later, Grendel attacks the resting Beowulf and his Geat crewmen, and Beowulf rips off the monster's arm. Having dealt him a fatal wound, Grendel flees the hall and dies in the swamp.

The piece is divided into five sections:
