Acer E5-571, on but nothing on screen, board repair

Happy to see you back Sorin and recovered from your back pain. I've repaired with a same laptop last week with a water damaged issue, it was the i/o chip that was corroded and cleaning it and re-soldering the pins fixed the issue. But I had another issue after that, i removed the CMOS battery and reset all the system settings, laptop can detect the harddrive on bios setup but won't boot on harddrive and getting a no bootable drive found error. I've changed the hardrive configuration from UEFI to legacy and fixed the issue. Thank's to your videos and I've learned a lot. With all the knowledge that I've learned from you and with Youtube University I have now my own repair shop. Thanks, more power to your channel and God bless to you!

Wanted to say thank you so much for your one small comment in your video. After watching other channels which advised me to replace my display cable (which I did) I watched your video and you said to re-seat the ram. I laughed out loud to be honest but went a got my sons laptop and used his ram in my laptop and would you believe it. Screen working fine.... SO THANK YOU SO ☺😀😀😀😁😁😁😁

Edit: then re-seated the original ram and it didn't work. However swapped them around and would you believe it, it boots and detects both ram modules. Bonkers! 😊 Thanks again.

Great video, the fact that you have to take something apart so far and flip a motherboard round to try a ram fix is certainly a design flaw with Acers model. How hard would it be just to create an access hatch on the underside with a single screw to get to it. :/ ... had read about corrupted bios causing this issue with these laptops but this fix gives a little bit of hope ..if not hopefully just a few quid in the swear jar taking the thing apart to reseat a stick of ram. fingers crossed and thanks again for great content

No way! Tired everything including making BIOS update bootable USB drive trying to reanimate this E5-571G I was given, I never thought that it wouldn't even POST without any RAM installed! Popped back in some RAM and up it came! Thanks a million! Now off to grab a cheap SSD!

Hello Sorin, I need an advice for a similar laptop Acer E5-551. The charging light is on when I plug the charger cable. When I press the power button, the power led is on, fan is starting but just for 5 seconds and after that is stopping. The power led remains on but nothing on screen... I measured the bios battery and is 2.2v - 2.4v, I also took it out, wait for 20 minutes, put it back and still nothing. I also measured the voltage on the power button connector and is 3v, not 3v3. What do you think can be the problem? Thanks. !

I think you should have started by testing the laptop on an external monitor. If the external monitor works and shows the desktop, then it is not a RAM issue. Right?
