I love they refer to themselves as the "Lovely Charming Villians". Even before everyone loved them they were fully aware of their role in this show.

as a nostalgic English dub enjoyer, this is just as stunning and beautiful. I have been thoroughly enlightened.

Interesting how for that first attempt at dubbing the "If you ask us..." section of the motto, they had Jessie say "Don't be frightened, little boy" and James say "Allow us to introduce ourselves." Two episodes later, they started dubbing that part of the motto as "Prepare for trouble! Make it double!" But since it's shorter than the Japanese equivalent, by the time the Orange Islands saga began they started coming up with different variations of "Prepare for trouble! Make it double!" to allow for the longer length.

I wonder if the writers know at time if if they were writing something as memorable as Romeo and Juliet

JPN (OLM, 1997)
“What is that?!”
“If you ask us this or that.. The pity of the world is what responds!”

ENG (4Kids, 1998)
“What the- Who are THEY??!”
“Don’t be frightened little boy, Allow us to introduce ourselves!”

And the rest as they say, Is history.

Besides now just finding out their real names,
I just realized they are named after Musashi Miyamoto and Sasaki Kojiro.

Perhaps it's just me, but I find the original (Japanese-translated) motto makes more sense than the English adaptation.

Seeing clips like this just bugs me more that I can't find japanese version easily. English is alright but this just feels so much less corny

Their Japanese names seem like a reference to Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro 😯

I swear both the original english and Japanese sound so good. Way better than the ones we have in Journeys

Sorry, but I’ve known them as Jessie and James for so long that hearing them being called anything else just sounds wrong.
