Now, drive on a dirt road to see quickly that dust & dirt will stick like glue.
You need to wipe several times to wipe off, but aside from removing excess it leaves a thin layer.

Make sure you leave that linseed oil cotton shirt under the seat. It will give the entire truck a crisp patina

Carpenter here. You can also use orangeoil to thin the lindseed oil or hardened flooroil. It hardens up extra strong and is a good protector for abrassive weather, sand, rain ecetera. Looks sharp!! Cool Truck!

Looks to me like it needs to be wiped down with a dry cloth to remove the excess oil.

boiled linseed oil is linseed oil that has had driers added to promote catalysis into a polymer. Linseed oil is not a petroleum distillate that will contaminate like petro oil, washing off with water it will not. In time it will yield to elements and begin to crack, lift and look weathered so a light thing coat is advised, heavy coats accentuate this condition. Do not apply heavy coats and let stand, the previous coats will dissolve and cause a wrinkled up mess of a look. Take care of the application rags, as the oil polymerizes it generates heat and with the right conditions is a cause of spontaneous combustion.

Boiled linseed oil, denatured alcohol, and clear shellac is the miracle mixture.

Hey pretty sweet looking! I’m a blacksmith and we use BLO on a lot of our tool handles and as a rust preventer on our hammers, anvils, and other “raw” surfaces👌🏼

I used 2 to 1 mineral spirits and power steering fluid.
Satin sheen with an even color look to the paint 👍
I just sprayed it on and wiped it off.

Careful with that rag! Those tend to spontaneously combust from being impregnated with boiled L. oil.

Boiled rapeseed oil is so ridiculously useful. From keeping tool handles from drying out, rot prevention on wood, rust prevention on metal. I'm grabbing it at least once a week for something now.

I always apply the product to the tool. Makes it easier to get an even coat and harder to overapply

Looks great! You can use Penetrol for oil base paint also, dries hard and doesnt attract dust.

My dad has been using it on old tractors since the 1970s.

Mix 1:1 linseed oil and mineral spirits beforehand, helps make a thinner coating and makes it dry faster

There's a product called Japan Dryer, or just Japan, that you can add to oil paint and other oil based finishes to get a faster drying time and harder finish. I am an old painter and have used it for 40 years. Use it premixed with a bit of solvent for easier mixing.

Word out use tirabine is a great dying agent when using linseed oil good undersealer when thinned with turpentine , teaspoon to the pint of tyrabine, the ratio pint to pint 2 teaspoons of drying adgent seals rust well

I’ve got a 2wd 65 short bed. Been slowly fixing it up. On body work now. Paint in a few months when it cools off in Texas a bit. Your truck is pretty badass.

I liked this more than I thought I would. Very cool! Keep us posted with a follow-up video to see how it kept after some time after the application weathering? Thanks! 😊

As a landscaper, I’ve used Linseed oil and turpentine 1:1 to treat timber, however it eventually grows a fine black mould. Be interested to see if that happens in the cracks n crevices or if it’s just a timber thing.
Interested to see what happens to the hood after a long drive on a hot day. 👍🏼

Diesel-we used it on our safari trucks. Does attract dust but surprisingly not much sticks
