FYI, the sirius module on a 2013 XC60 is located behind the rear seat (middle one) which is accessible from the rear cargo area -- just lift off the panel that covers the spare tire and tools. I have not tried this fix yet, but will give it a try.

Thank you for posting this video. I applied this fix to my 2010 Volvo XC90. Due to the design of this vehicle, it took me a lot of time to disassemble the trim material. The Sirius unit is installed in the rear of the vehicle, on the passenger side. It is approximately below the rear, right cup holder. Installing the antenna was easy. I completed this task yesterday and will monitor the fix and impact on the battery drain. Thanks again!

Just added the brace to my 2015.5 XC70. I did plug the power cord back in, and prior to doing so, I made sure my radio selection was not on Sirius. My Sirius box was behind the rear seat, and since the XC70 is a wagon, it was easier to access, without removing trim. I raised the rear compartment floor, removed the utility tray, as if to change the tire, and there it was. I was a bit confused because it looked smaller than in the picture. I could not read the label so I used a mirror, just to confirm that it was actually the Sirius unit.

I disconnected the power cable and connected the loop, and reinserted the power cable. My RDAR cable was not wrapped in sponge or protected in anyway--it was just a wire.

Hope it works. I will see if I continue to get the "low battery charge" message when I don't drive for a week or so. Thanks to the poster--you have helped a lot by sharing and posting. God Bless. Shame on Volvo Cars of North America for making its brand customers jump through loops (pun intended) like this.

Dude! THANK YOU! Middle-aged widow using the Google box and YouTube to do unfamiliar-to-me things, your video saved me. Ordered the loop #amazon. C70 convertible made it difficult because of the hard top brace over the fender well where the evil tyrant lived. SUCCESS!! Several curse words and minimal knuckle cuts were involved. Thank you so much. P.S. I had FM/AM without replugging the power cable. Again... Thank You!

This video shows it on the left side of the car. I have a C70. Mine was on the right. Otherwise, the location is dead on.

Tried doing this on my 2015 v60 xc, have been having issues with battery drain which I believe to be related to the Sirius xm radio. Bought that exact connection doesn’t fit any other connections

Hi Powdermonkey99
Thanks for your video (I have also low battery warning problem). I ordered the jumper and I will test it soon. Anyway I have the question is there only one antenna for sat and normal radio? If I unplag the power cable and fibre optic (and use the jumper) - where is the normal radio antenna? The power cable shoud be NOT plug into radr or it doesn't matter after jumper was applied?

Many thanks in advance,
Adam

Hi, we just installed the most loop on our C70. However we found out that the aux input now does not work. Did you experience this? Is there a work around as we use that input all the time

Yes this is a fact, hence why Volvo actually makes an OEM part - had the issue on both a 2011 C70 and a 2012 S60 - Sirius radio continues to attempt to connect for updates and or other information with satellite even after car is completely turned off and the key is removed as it does not follow other electrical device protocol in the car to turn off and stay off - I went through 2 new batteries (almost $900) until I finally had Volvo US HQ contact dealer directly in NJ to replace both Sirius at no charge - this is a well documented and known problem with Sirius - Volvo even has a Service Bulletin for dealers although they do not have an official RECALL - fight for your right to not constantly have to replace your battery due to Volvo/Sirius engineering/electrical issues!

I'm having this problem with my 2009 XC70. When I run the part number, it doesn't confirm it will work on my car, but I also can't find one that does...ugh. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Low Battery Charge message is back on my 2015.5 XC70 even with the brace installed. A full trickle charge and in seven days to not driving, the message is back. I will try to disconnect the power to the Sirius radio to see what happens.

You can just pull the fuse for the XM module. No need to go through all that

anyone know where the satellite receiver is on a 2008 V50?

Thanks for the great tutorial. Do you know where the Sirius box is located in a 2007 XC90? I just purchased one and the previous owner disclosed battery drain issues that were traced to the radio/entertainment fuse. I assume the Sirius issue is the culprit.

I have a 2011 c70 and for that yr I’ve been having a battery drain issue I had to replace 3 different batteries at Walmart already. If I leave my vehicle park for 3 days straight it drains the battery. It just happen to me a few weeks ago and I had to give it a jump. Where is is located on a c70 2011

I have to do this with my 2011 XC60 but I believe the loop is just so that your normal radio still works as you want bypassed this RDAR unit (ie you'll notice the loop goes on the fiber cables that normally go through the RDAR). But the original problem is that the RDAR unit is doing the searching, so by plugging it back in I believe you've just allowed it to keep draining the battery. If you had just unplugged it then you would avoid the problem, and the loop is just to then get your radio back. I'll have to confirm this when I access mine.

Didn't work for me. Battery still draining. Mine is a 2008 S40.
