Just replaced my well worn Sand 3s with this pair. So far, I like them a lot. They are lighter than the Sand for sure due to the lack of leather. I would argue this is a pro though for hot weather riding, which is what this glove is designed for. Yes, protection is pretty light. One negative I noticed is that the grip seems to be more slippery than with my Sand gloves. The leather does grip better. Curious to see how they will break in.
