How to convert between metric cubic units for volume & capacity (with examples)

Following on with the same pattern for metric unit conversion for other units of measure, metric unit conversion for volume and capacity involves multiplying or dividing by the cube of 10, 1000 or 1000.

Recall that volume is the space taken up by a 3D object, while capacity is how much a 3D object (such as a container) can hold. The relationship between volume and capacity is as follows:

1 cubic centimetre = 1 mL
1 cubic metre = 1 kL ( = 1000 L )
