I watched this last year when I was given this exact welder for a job I had done. I had never welded or even had a desire but I figured the ability to learn a. New skills as worth more than I could comprehend. Well that turned out true. It’s been a year since and I started welding comfortably about 4 month ago and have already made so much things for myself. Your video gave me the courage to just go out and try. I watched your video over and over to see what to do and not to do, how to hold, what I can and can’t touch. Thanx a lot for your courage cause wit gave me confidence to try.

I'm not going to bash your video. They take time and effort to make. You will get better the more you weld. Thanks for having the balls to video your first time welding. I laughed when you jumped on your first arc! Good luck. Welcome to the addiction

This is exactly how I learned to weld. Taught myself by trial and error. I made every effort/attempt/mistake you made and a LOT more before I had an "AH-HA" moment, and beads began to flow with minimal effort. Welding keeps a roof over my head, and it's kinda fun! Keep at it, and thanks for posting yourself as you smoothed your technique! Good stuff!
PLEASE don't weld in that jacket again! You're going to set yourself on fire!

Brings back memories. I like arc welding on my channel over flux core machines. I just ordered a yeswelder to use with 3/32 and 1/8" electrodes. I will upload a video to see how the machine handles.

Keep at it man! I weld for a living and gotta say I don't think I would have had the balls to post my very first arc strike lol. Don't listen to the folks bashing you. They probably know nothing about the craft. Try to find some hot roll steel like from home depot or lowe's and clean it to bright shiny metal. Watch some weldtube or weld.com videos. Typically you want a roughly 90* work angle to the metal and slight dragging angle. Definitely go to a harbor freight and buy their brass ground clamp! Just keep practicing and don't let anyone discourage you. I jumped the first time I struck an arc too XD I would also highly suggest learning with 6013 rods (get some 3/32") they are very beginner friendly, easy to start and restart as well as being versatile where you can run on different polarities for different applications. Shoot me a message if you ever have any questions and I'll do my best to help you. Cheers

Oh and get a chipping hammer and wire brush to remove the slag before making another pass ;)
