Dean has talked back to demons, gods, all manner of eldritch abominations but with Death, he is apprehensive and visibly shaken. Julian Richings gave a chilling performance as the personification of death.

I love how Death basically confirmed there's alien civilizations out there saying that earth is barely out of its infancy.

Death referring to Lucifer as 'a bratty child throwing a tantrum' give a great reference for just _how_ old he is. The strongest of the archangels, the previous right-hand of God, and Death sees him as a spoiled brat.

I love the fact they chose an actor with a very distinct shape of face and cadence of voice for Death. He has a feeling of distinction and intimidation, just being on screen, never mind any of the other factors.
