Reasons WHY JAPAN is LIVING in THE FUTURE - Jam Jars

Japan has jam jars with lids that close on their own! It seems like these self-closing lids are only associated with this specific jam company and they were apparently made by accident!

The lids close using gravity in conjunction with the way that the edges are cut into the side of the jar and you still need to give it a tight twist afterward to ensure it's fully closed, but it's still pretty cool nonetheless!

Okay but this design would be incredible to standardize!!! It would help so many people like me with fine motor control issues, tremor, or arthritic hands! Like when you have the strength fir the extra nudge you need to close it but not the stability to balance it perfectly so it closes? Game changer tbh

No, all the jars are like that. It's not because of convenience (it's not convenient anyways, the jar is still open) but because the cup and the jar itself have a screw design, creating a safe but easy locking mechanism, that will stay into place more efficiently than other designs
