In Germany you pay for the bottles and get that money back when you return the bottles. Most commonly its 25 cents per bottle. It helps to ensure the bottles get returned and recycled and even encourages some people to go out and pick up bottles out of trashcans and the streets for a small reward that can add up pretty quick.

In Germany and Netherlands (as far as I know), there's something called Pfand or Statiegeld. This is the residual money on the bottle after its empty, which most of the time is €0.25.
You then bring all the bottles you have collected back to the shop and put it in this machine that'll give you a coupon that you can redeem at the cashier to get your money.

Why is this so revolutionary to people? There's over 40 countries that has a system like this where you pay a deposit when you buy bottles or cans and get your deposit back when you return the bottle or can to a machine that can be found in almost every single grocery store.

Idk, i think its better to go the German route and get the bottle deposit paid back rather than the extra plastic and the wasted power and waste to make the bag and stickers

In germany we have Pfand (Basicly you get 15 or 30 cent back if you return the bottle) since decades.

If you think about it, it isn't actually free because you first need a bottle which would most likely cost money to buy so it isn't completely free but is free at the same time.

Such a harmless and simple fun way to educate and clean the environment while most of the world struggles to figure it out

Why not adapt the Pfand system from Germany? We get 25 cents for every bottle or can. Just put it in the Machine and get a bar code with the amount x from your stuff

POV: you think that you are live in Germany also in the future because if you buy a deposit bottle you get money back when you put it in a recycling machine
