I always hated school
And I’m not saying that
Just to look cool
For 13 years of my life, I sat

In those chairs
And played along
Acutely aware
That I didn’t belong

In the broken system
That kills the joy for learning
Intelligence vs wisdom
A young mind yearning

To create
Without the restrictions
A constant state
Of contradiction
-
Standardized testing
To prove that you’re smart
No time for resting
Forget about art
-
Pointless rules
And obligations
Lack of tools
For compensation
-
Producing productive members of
Society
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all glove;
Variety
-
Is what they need
Show them their options
Then let them succeed
Free from the toxins
-
Of our broken education system

Good grades don’t correlate to success. You need school to be a lawyer, doctor, engineer, accountant, or teacher. But you don’t need it to sell a product or service.

I hated school growing up. The things I learned high school was english and some math. School also had terrible people

Reasons why I hate school:

1. I’m alone.
I do have a few ppl I talk to in school. But it’s pretty obvious that they have friends who they enjoy talking to way more than me. When we are at lunch, I see them talking to their other friends. When we are at events or parties, they always go to their other friends. Yes, I talk to them oftentimes. But I’ll always be alone in that school.

2. Forced to work in groups.
I prefer working alone. But apparently, according to teachers, it will help with communication skills. That is true kinda. However, my antisocial self and others should not have to be forced to work in groups if we don’t want to.

3. Unnecessary teachings.

When am I ever gonna have to know the author’s purpose, the slope intercept form, or the history of the presidents in the real world? I think we should pick classes that we want to be in, but that’s not how it goes in my school unfortunately.

4. Grading each other’s essays.

My English teacher makes us write essays every first day of school. And she makes us grade each other’s papers. I don’t care how smart they are. I don’t want some student grading my paper. And I don’t wanna grade any others papers. We all write differently. And the best part? If we grade someone’s paper “wrong, ” she takes points off OUR paper.

There are many other reasons why but I’ll just include these four. I understand that we have to get our education. But does school really have to be like this?

Edit: I actually have no one to talk to at school lol. My one friend isn’t even there anymore. So I’m left to sit in the cafeteria alone. I rarely ever speak a word in any of my classes unless someone asks me something.

I still have a negative opinion on schools. My best school day was my last day. I can still remember the joy of leaving school. That was 1974 and it's still etched into my mind. I loved science and maths but school got in the way because the days were full of other crap... I hated english and sport... and the bullying.

Friday comes, your feeling good, Saturday pulls in, you realize how it’s gone by so fast, Sunday hits, your parents could be watching football and it gives you a bad vibe knowing school is tommrow, but you’re up early, you may just chill for the day, it hits 12, your not worrying, it hits 1, your chill, it hits 2, you start to check the time, it hits 3, you think about every Sunday night you’ve had, it’s 4, your now still relaxed, it hits 5, then 6, you get a lot of little pressure, it hits 7, you have pressure knowing that the hell that comes tommrow, sleeping will be short and waking will be horrible, it hits 8 and your stressed thinking about the amazing Friday and Saturday you had, also your morning that is now irrelevant, then you finally hit 9, you know you’re going to school.. it’s pounding your thoughts feeling as if your emotional having to deal with this for your week, having to spend 7 cruel hours, you are probably going to get yelled at if your virtual or In school, or you do 2 days a week and your in deep waters, failing, with slight chances of being alive in grades. Then you are woken, walking to the bus stop, driving, or walking, thinking about the day, but then it passes and you think, maybe this isn’t so bad after all, if you did 2 days a week you’re thinking, welp, one more day, school feels so fast if your periods are fun and easy. yet you still find yourself sitting there at Sunday when you blink and the cycle continues.

I remember way back in First Grade, I had a pretty strict teacher. And I remember here saying this, "If you don't attend school just because you don't feel like it, God will send your parents to jail." Pretty pathetic honestly.

I remember two weeks ago I told my mother that everything I learned in the past 4 years was stripped away from me. I just never learned anything resourceful other than art. Painting and drawing is my passion, I took classes outside of school and read books about art.
