In today's video I want to go over some of the reasons why you can't install CHROME OS on your laptop or PC - from CPU incompatibility, wrong recovery image being used, other types of unsupported hardware and so on - and what you have to do to find out if your CPU is compatibe with CHROME OS. Also, how to download the right CHROME OS recovery image for your laptop or PC.

In this video you'll find out that not all proccesors (CPUs) are compatible with CHROME OS and why, and that from the compatible ones, not all of them work with the same recovery image (ex: rammus for Celeron CPU). Follow this guide and you'll have a much better understanding about CHROME OS and CPU compatibility.

I've tried many times to get Chrome OS installed but can't quite get there. 

I'm trying to install it on an older Acer Aspire TimelineX with an Intel Core i5 M430 (or 430M) @2.27ghz.  The laptop model shows in the bios as "Aspire 4820TG."  I have no UEFI option in the bios so I've been using the legacy MBR patch file. 

When trying to install on the HDD using Linux Mint it always gets stuck after restart on the white Chrome OS screen - then the screen switches to black after approx 5 minutes then nothing… 

Strangely though - if I run the same OS directly from the USB drive it works perfectly - but a little laggy. So frustrating! 

I've tried several different Chrome OS images and was hopeful your guide in this video might help me find the right image - but sadly when I search for "Core i5 M430 Chromebook" or similar strings I can't find a meaningful result. 

Would you be able to point me in the right direction for the best image to try for my system?  Many thanks again…

@TheArtmann, I have a mini pc with celeron N3350. I've already tested a dozen images from both ChromeOS and Fydeos. The problem is always the same, when it reaches the initial language selection screen it keeps processing and then a black screen. Is it due to an error in the image, or an error in the Bios configuration or another problem? Can you help me?

Question: does Chrome OS has a minimum RAM requirement?
On my other notebooks (intel 6gb and amd 4gb) the bootable CloudReady worked just fine. Your video gave me hope for trying again with my Positivo Motion Plus Q464B (since it's an Atom x5 z8350) - 4GB.
I might also try with my Celeron PC, and the ones I work with (old replaced ones from a local school), but those have less than 4gb, and I'm afraid I'll lose my time...
Anyways, your videos are amazing! The Atom x5 is the only one I really wanted to install Chrome OS Flex on (not just the bootable vers), due to the low storage (64gb). I'll try it now... Thanks for giving me hope with it!

When I try to install chromeos it says "could not write partition, most likely you are trying to install ChromeOS on a disk with a running operating system, even tho I used gparted and I deleted all the partitions on my disk now it's all unallocated, what do I do?

hello Artmann thank you for your videos specially ones about chrome os, i have i7 4770 and i installed chrome os after a whole week trying everything, i started with the newest brench and os and it stuck at brench logo for hours, i found out that my nvidia was the reason i disabled it and used the igpu and tried again and it did not work either, then i tried to lower the brench and os update to version 113 and it worked like charm then updated and downloaded all programs i wanted but at last i tried to update the brench and os but this time from the brench debug using iwp, the brench succefully worked at the latest version which was 120 but when i tried to update the os to the 120 but after restarting it stuck again at the chrome logo and after while it shutdown but it did only sleep as i tried my space and it repowered again while still stuck on the logo, i dual it with my win 11 with grub2win, i am using rammus and i found that brench 120 is supporting from 6th gen, the 120 brench is working as i did again update the os to the lower version which was 113 but i had to install everything again ..is rammus is the right recovery i found another one called pyro ..supporting 4th gen, what do you think ?
