Carl Linnaeus was a "botanist". He invented the naming system for plants and animals.

3:35 That Aula (auditorium) building is not very old, from the mid 1800s. But Uppsala University itself was founded back in 1477. The large church was originally build in the 1200s, but wasn't fully completed until the 1400s. Older churches are still standing though, both in Uppsala and in Old Uppsala a few km south.

As others said... you said it right. When my husband got his doctorsdiploma at Uppsala universitet we got to go to q ball at the govenours castle. That was pretty cool!

1:10 The blue sweater dude in the video says Oppsalá rather than Uppsala. Google translate has a correct pronunciation if you are interested. But, as always, you need to have it in Swedish-mode.

I only know about this place because of an old movie we have in my cabinet named Pekka Töpöhäntä (Pelle Svanslös). I swear the movie of that cat in America is an acid trip.

Not really a good video about Uppsala. I am born and raised in Uppsala and still live very close to the city. Try to visit on our special day, april 30. Thats when we celebrate sista april or Walpurgis night.

Search for valborg i Uppsala.
