Micro location is a new feature in iOS 17 that allows apps to request access to your location more precisely than before. With micro location, apps can request access to a specific area, such as a city block or a store, instead of your entire location. This gives you more control over how your location data is used by apps.

If you turn micro location on for an app, the app will only be able to see your location when you are in the specific area that you have granted it access to. This means that the app will not be able to track your movements outside of that area

I noticed a pattern in the Apple events two years ago. It was on June 7 and then the next year after that it was on June 6 and this year it’s on June 5 so I predict that next year it’ll be on June 4.

My guess would be that microlocation services is a compromise between exact location or approximate location. Sometimes I would not want an app to have access to my exact location but giving it an "approximate one" would sometimes put me in another nearby city. Would be a welcome privacy feature if that is the case.

I am opposed to all the health data collection. I am 79 yrs old and am extremely opposed to the Apple data collection. Do I even have a choice? Resting Energy is now collected and I have "no" choice!
