Windows 98 was Microsoft’s upgrade for users of Windows 95 and earlier versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems. You can install Windows 98 and play your game while runing the OS.

For MM I would recommend Open1560, which is a complete re-implementation of the original game with tons of fixes. It works out of the box on new systems with proper/native widescreen, interpolated 60 frames per second and many other goodies. Of course less resource intensive than running MM on top of W98 on top of DOSBox on top of RetroArch.

MM was a literal game changer, but MM2 was even better. IIRC, that when I bought my first force feedback steering wheel and it was silly amounts of fun.

When Win98 emulation on this core becomes good enough as it is, I will finally have a brave chance to get to play the anime-themed FPS game that I truly missed out on so much as I never had the chance to run it on my modern machine. This being none other than the Croc LOTG of FPS games known as Shogo: Mobile Armor Division!

Awesome! MM is still loads of fun after all these years. I still have my force feedback wheel from back in the day. My kid and I played MM with it not too long ago. Last time we played, there was a certain terrain somewhere that made the wheel shake like crazy. Startled my kid so bad that she darted out of the room. xD

Epic! Saw it on the dev's channel already a few weeks ago but really: Great progress!
I hope that SEGA Worldwide Soccer PC runs this way. That would be awesome.

Just one question:
Can Windows 3.11 be installed likewise and appear in that OS list then?

Also for a next release it would be awesome if a desired EXE can be autostarted with DosBox Pure inside Windows. That even shouldn't be that hard to implement. From the DosBox Pure launcher if I open a ZIP containing an EXE file, beside the entry to just launch the exe there should be another entry "MADNESS.EXE [run with OS]" and upon choosing that, it gives you a list of installed OS. If I launch it with W98 for example, it autocreates an autoboot.bat containing the path to that EXE and places it at the right place on drive C so it automatically launches after W98 booted up. Should theoretically work.

I find installing Windows 95 and 98 in general really tedious when it comes to getting the settings right to play the games I want. That why I don't often bother with virtual machines, as they are much more trouble to get working than DOSBOX in general.

DirectX 9 is installed but the games are lagging. Is there a special setting or something? MM is lagging to the point of being unplayable. Tomb Raider and other 3D games are also lagging. What settings should I make? I use android version

How the frick do you bypass the "this cannot be run in DOS mode"???

Also, doo you have to do this process everytime you launch it, or can you just "add the game" to Retroarch?

I was excited by this video, but I'm finding most of the games I actually try to play within it don't work. As a test case, I've been trying to get either Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's SimGolf working within it for days. In both cases, I keep getting almost immediate crashes due to invalid page faults. I've tried EVERYTHING- reinstall Windows, Win 95, running on different devices, reconfiguring the CPU and RAM within DOSBox- no luck whatsoever. Anyone have any luck getting either of these to run?

I've been opening my Windows image with Power ISO and just dropping the files I'll need. Also, an .m3u playlist for the games I'll play off of disc.
