An epic start to the season for Lewis Hamilton as he blew away the opposition at Saturday's qualifying session.

The way he attacks corners is insane. I was amazed as to how he goes on full throttle so early out the corner. Truly an amazing lap.

Everytime in Australia Hamilton nails the first corner...he was 0.4 sec up in the first sector itself.

Hate Lewis as much as you want but you have to respect his amazing skills. Some of these poles are simply beautiful.

I hope people realize this pole lap isn't all down to engine "party" mode. The engine has nothing to do with how Hamilton is able to throw the car into corners or how the car soaks up bumps. The is the car and driver working in perfect harmony. Its awe-inspiring.

Jesus, was anyone else shocked at the speed of it all? I don't know if it's because I haven't seen a F1 on board in a long while, or maybe this was just really fast, but wow, I was breathless after watching that. Anyone else, or am I just weird?

I've probably watched this literally over 100 times and that exit out of turn 1 is simply beautiful and how he manages to pick up the throttle so early I mean come on this is just remarkable

I can understand why there is so much hate on Lewis but this guy is just totally on a different level. One of the very few drivers who makes very few errors!! That was an absolute legend lap. Massive speed and control! They way he changes multiple setting on the steering and yet still have that concentration! Great. Congratulations

Lewis Hamilton is establishing himself as an F1 legend in the Pantheon of the all time best drivers (Schumacher, Senna, Prost, Stewart, Clark, Fangio). He is astonishingly quick, and generally error free, year after year.

That down shift from 8th to 7th gear on the Waite/turn 9 was breathtaking. I wish we could see the telemetry, looks like he used aero braking and some engine braking for a split second and 7th gear was rev'd out to 8th again.

It’s undeniable that Hamilton is just so fast, he’s still untouchable. I’m supporting McLaren but bloody hell, that Merc engine sounds fierce. Like they dialled it up to 11.
