Making a Roubo Frame Saw

The building process of a Roubo Style frame saw, dedicated to resawing.

The frame is built out of quater-sawn white oak, finished with Tung oil and paste wax. Hardware comes from Blackburn Tools.

The design of the Acanthus leaf was from Mary May's new book "Carving the Acanthus Leaf" Chapter 11. The original design is an applique around 1/2" deep. I modified it to a shallow relief of 1/16" to avoid to be too fragile on the saw arms. Mary May's online carving school is a great inspiration and guidance for me to start carving.

The carving is beautiful. Did you make the hardware, or use a kit?
