Have you ever wondered what order your plugins should be? Should EQ be before compression? What about saturation or chorus? Where should your reverb and delay be?

I just finished my album, where I did everything myself, and your videos along with Music Tech Help Guy were a huge reason for why I was able to do it!

I am well aware of this concept but the way you worded it this particular time somehow gave me a new understanding. Well done.

I like your simple explanation. Also the fact you use Logic (like I have).

Interesting choice to put the DeEsser after the EQ. Its usually done as part of track maintenance before you get into tone shaping.

That distortion 2 grit on the vocals sounds much better than the saturation knob

Very interesting. I didn't realize you would use so many plug ins to alter and shape the tone of vocals. All I've been using is EQ and then adding Compression and effects. I would love to see you do a video on shaping the tones on different types of voices.

Talking about buses and all that… realized he’s not talking exclusively about GarageBand on this one

That's so helpful Colin. Many thanks. Out of curiosity, where do the VU meters come in the plug in order??? TIA. Rich.

excellent video - thanks very much. do you know if garageband has any built-in "plug in delay compensation"? do you have any experience of latency issues with garageband plug ins? cheers
