Grieving Breeding Dog Is Dumped Like Trash, Her Own Starvation Left Her Unable To Feed Her Pups

Dumped like trash and severely malnourished after she was unable to feed her most recent litter of puppies due to prolonged starvation, Pittie pup Molly’s torturous life was about to come to a tragic end. Abandoned by a heartless backyard breeder, Molly was found alone and afraid, waiting to be reunited with her deceased babies across the rainbow bridge.
For years, Pittie pup Molly endured exploitation and abuse as her body was used to churn out countless litters of puppies by a backyard breeder just looking to make a profit. Molly had been so severely neglected that she was unable to feed her most recent litter, so deprived of nutrients that she was unable to produce any milk. As a result, all of Molly’s puppies died shortly after their birth. Molly was then dumped by the breeder in an abandoned pop-up camper. While out looking for a different dog, we found Molly all alone, doing her best to fend for herself. 
As soon as we saw Molly, we knew we couldn’t leave without her. However, it took an extremely long time for us to earn her trust and coax her out of her hiding place. We sat in the grass nearby and spoke to her about ourselves and our own children. Although she couldn’t understand our words, we hoped she could sense we meant her no harm. Eventually, Molly cautiously approached us. When she finally came out from the shadows, our hearts were completely shattered as we saw the horrible condition this poor girl was in.
This poor dog was on the verge of starvation. She had become a walking skeleton and every bone in her frail and battered body was visible. Her skin was loose from years of breastfeeding. Molly must have been fed just enough food to keep her alive. We rushed this poor girl to the vet, almost positive that she was more than just malnourished. Sadly, our suspicions were correct. Molly’s belly was full of intestinal parasites wreaking havoc on her digestive system, and she was in the advanced stages of Heartworm disease.
Although easily preventable with the proper medication, Heartworm can be fatal if left untreated. Parasitic worms grow unchecked, eventually clogging the heart’s chambers and essential arteries, leading to cardiac arrest. We are absolutely devastated that Molly has been forced to endure such horrific mistreatment, and it is heartbreaking to watch her cry every day for the puppies she has lost. However, it is not too late to turn things around for Molly and give her a second chance at a life full of love and happiness.
Treatment for Heartworm disease can be extremely rough on the body, consisting of heavy antibiotics and injections to dissolve the Heartworms. We want to ensure that Molly is strong enough to withstand this treatment before this process begins. Molly has been started on a regimen of small and frequent meals to help her gain weight without overloading her fragile system. Once she is healthy enough, Molly will be spayed as her breeding days are now finally over.
