If they did a non electric version I'm sure a lot of people would be interested

I bought a commuter bike recently. Got the cheapest thing I could find because I have no doubt that within 6 months it'll either be stolen or bent.

You guys should get an old gezelle impala in your hand to know what a real city bike looks like. Build like a tank and most of those 20+ year old are still going strong today. This bike won't reach 20+ years sadly...

With the regulations here in the states, it’s hard to navigate the distinction between an electric bicycle and an electric motorcycle. The problem stems from top speed and power rating of the motor. Regulations saying things like it can’t go faster than 25 mph on flat ground and have a motor higher than 500 watts. (I haven’t looked at the specifics from my city/state in a few years, numbers are probably different). If found to be faster than 25 mph or have a motor higher than allowed, you can get multiple fines from one stop by an overzealous LEO. Some have just given in and gotten their motorcycle endorsement and registration for the bike, I like the three wheel loophole instead. A: a bike with three wheels doesn’t require a motorcycle license in my state. B: the wording of the statute is for electric bicycles, so it doesn’t cover TRIcycles. C: last I looked (granted a few years ago) you didn’t have to register a low speed e-vehicle with the state to ride it in the public roads as long as you rode on roads with speeds no higher than 45 mph, as long as you had proper lighting.
Long story just to say, I want to build an electric trike with a couple motors and a couple good sized batteries that are removable. Don’t have to pay taxes and registration fees, don’t need a special license, I could take batteries into work or wherever to charge while I’m taking care of business and have plenty of room to haul groceries or other goods while being a bigger, brighter object than a bicycle. Another plus is it’s harder to just pickup and throw a trike into a van or truck if thieves were looking for a quick snatch. (Had a 250cc motorcycle literally picked up and thrown into a van through the side door while out at store, snatch and grab took less than a minute) A small sized trike could be locked to side of a bicycle rack or light pole like a bicycle whereas a motorcycle is forced to be parked out in the lot.
