This is 100% what we do! Please listen folks. Ive worked in several roles over 10 years and this is the most accurate clip ever!

Great video! I would love to see a 'day in the life' version where you have an actor play a client with a real business problem. It would be interesting to see how the data analyst interacts with the client, asking questions to gain a deeper understanding of the problem and then how they use data to provide insights and solutions. It would be a valuable learning experience for those interested in the field of data analysis.

People always think we build AI models and are so cool but an analytics professional knows that nearly 80% of the time is just runt data cleaning and EDA :)

Your videos single handedly encouraged me to go learn python. I'm going thru the Coursera classes right now. Cheers!

This is great. I'd love to see this video on a careers website so people can see what the job is really about. Then people can see how to learn what's needed to do the jobs.

Oh really loved it. In 30 seconds understood what really is needed to become a data analyst. More of analytical skills and less of dashboarding tools. Great work

I was very excited to learn how to become a data analyst but now that I keep on watching videos like this explaining the real world of becoming a data analyst I suddenly think I can’t do this. Geez, I hope I can really do this!!

Luke it would be great if you could expand on this or share more about the "insights finding" part of the job, how do you uncover them? What steps you you take after data cleaning towards finding the insights? Enlighten us, Master!!

yup...being a cook a dish, we need to buy, prepare, clean before cooking and cleaning the dishes after that.

It's not just about the cooking.

A few years ago, I was not sure which way in life I wanted to go. So I got a job at a local factory for the time being. After 2 years(!), I was close to insane. Watching the same process in front of me every day for hours upon hours and sometimes even overtime was painful.
Now I have managed to get a high student loan, big debt on the house, kids to feed, and a data analyst job where I clean data every day for hours upon hours and sometimes even overtime.
A dream come true. ☕
