Despite what a lot of people says, Flash is not just a cliche bully. He has heart and can be empathetic and supportive.

The significance of Flash’s apology is that he isn’t just apologizing to Peter about his uncle…he’s apologizing about being a bully and it took his uncle dying to realize how similar they were to each other and how it felt to be hurt when being held up on the lockers the way he did. It was like seeing his own reflection. When Flash asks, “Feels better right?”, we see that’s he’s had a similar upbringing to hurt others in order to cope with loss and Peter realized this as well.

“It feels better, right?” After Peter throws him into a locker is honestly the best characterization of Flash we’ve seen in any Spider-Man movie.

I love how they added depth to Flash's character. He wasn't just a stereotypical bully. There's even an implication that he lost someone in his life in a similar manner to Uncle Ben. TASM series had so much potential and Sony butchered it.

The fact that Flash is the first character to approach Peter about Ben's death and then the “It feels better, right?” adds more characterization to Flash than the other two movie counterparts combined.

Flash went from a bully to the hero all of us can be right now—someone who’s there for those who need it in their sorrow and loss.

I love how this movie retains the goofy parts of comics but also is mature enough to let you read between the lines, flash clearly has parenting issues, he didn't like being called Eugene which leads us to consider that maybe he was called that by someone he lost, and when peter lost his uncle flash understood it. These movies went over most peoples heads since it came right after the first sadly.
