Toyota RAV4 (2019-2025): How To Replace Front Brake Pads And Rotors In The New Toyota RAV4?

Показать описание
In this video, we will show how to service the front brakes in the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 Toyota RAV4. We will show how to replace the front brake pads and rotors.

We will lift the RAV4 using the hydraulic jack and put it on the jack stands. Using a 14mm socket and 17mm wrench, we will remove two bolts holding the caliper in place. We will use the bungee cord to secure the caliper. Using the brake pad spreader we will push in the piston to allow the new brake pad to be installed. We will inspect the caliper pin boots. Using the 17mm socket we will remove 2 bolts holding the caliper bracket. This will allow us to remove and replace the rotor. We will apply the brake lubricant to the back of the plates that go on top of the brake pads. This will prevent the squeaking noise. We will point out the brake components that need an inspection every time you work on the brakes. In the end, we will show how to reassemble all components including the required torque values.

Tools used: 21mm socket, 14mm socket, 17mm socket, 17mm wrench, ratchet, torque wrench, hydraulic jack, jack stands, bungee cord, brake pad spreader, brake caliper brush, brake lubricant.

If only the dealerships would take their time to inspect those gaps, leaks, and wear everyone's cars would be running safer and cleaner. Thank you for the video.

IN CASE ANYONE IS WONDERING…..For the bolt used to take off the rotor i ended up taking one off the engine. The bolt was in front of the oil fill cap in between a bracket that’s shaped like a U right above / across a ground wire . I took it off with a 12 MM socket…. For anyone wondering ❤

Sheesh I cant imagine EVER doing this kind of work wearing a sweater. I'm on the gulf coast in the US and you'll be soaked in sweat in the first 5 minutes no matter what time of year.

GREAT VIDEO!! I have an issue with front passenger side speed sensor on my 2017 RAV4 - malfunction codes up on the dash. I cleaned the sensor but the warnings remain on the dash. Code reader is not picking up anything now & can't clear them. Any suggestions? Thanks

Good job. Also excellent video resolution. Well done.
A friend told me that before replacing front brake pads I must disable (Brake Control) by removing the (Brake Booster Assembly) or else I would probably get DTC C1214 on my Hybrid RAV4!! What do you think? Is my friend right? Awaiting your most appreciated response on this.

What is the diameter and thread pitch of the screw you used to remove the rotor?

As a serious shortcut, you can simply remove the cradle that the caliper fits in. The entire caliper and cradle can then be removed by only removing two bolts. This is efficient only if replacing the rotors and pads, as the rotor requires the cradle be removed. So, skip the caliper bolts shown this video and move to the cradle bolts. The caliper will stay bolted to the cradle and pull right out. You can pop out the pads and insert new ones while the caliper is still mounted to the cradle. Don't forget, this is one heavy hunk of metal you are playing with. Support it with your hands, rest it on the heat shield, or tie up up to your shocks/struts above....but do not let it hang by the brake line or it will pull out of the crimp and leak. Exception...if you want to clean and detail your bolts or caliper, then feel free to spend as much time removing all four bolts, then wire brush scrub as much as you want, lol.
