Entering the Syrian Embassy in Makati to raise the revolution flag was deeply emotional and symbolic moment. As I stepped through the door, I was not just entering a building, I was crossing a threshold into a place that carries the weight of history, struggle, and the hopes of those affected by the Syrian revolution. The air might feel heavy, thick with the stories of resistance, survival, and loss.

Syria is finally FREE!

Basel, you are a Filipino. And we embrace you as one of our brother. During your stay here in the Philippines, you've done a lot of good for my fellow Filipinos. And we appreciate everything.

But you are, first and foremost, a Syrian. And we Filipinos understand the feeling of liberation. The war has done so much horror not just to your family, but to all Syrians around the world. It's heartbreaking to know that a lot of Syrians were not just displaced in their own country, but was also separated from them. We Filipinos witnessed how you and your family was separated, each went to different countries just to stay alive.

But God has a way to give us a good future we deserve. You are blessed when God brought you to the Philippines to live your life of freedom. But God also blessed us when He chose to let you stay in the Philippines. You keep reminding us that we should love our country more. If other nation loves us, why can't we love our own? And for that, we are eternally grateful.

Do what you have to do. If you are contemplating or deciding to help your countrymen, we will support it 100%. We are behind you, praying for you, wishing for God to bless you more so you can help your fellow Syrians the way you help us Filipinos. And I guess it is time for you to share your blessings to your countrymen. And we will always understand where your heart is.
