Esports players are training like professional athletes

Esports players train like traditional professional athletes with regular gym visits, performance coaching, and a nutritionist-designed diet. CompLexity, an esports franchise, is developing training that borrows straight from the books of professional football players – and there’s a reason for that.

As more money pours into esports, what it means to train like a professional gamer has changed. Jason Lake, compLexity CEO, refers to this industry shift as “esports 3.0.”

I can rep 205 for a set. But I can’t drive a quarter mile on Vikendi without falling through the god damn map. GG blue holes

They're training for different reasons tho. Athletes train to get their body in peak shape, esports players are just training to increase their mental wellbeing from the endorphins that are released. I know I play a lot better when I'm hitting the gym regularly.

Soooo, they are becoming office workers? If you exclude the medium, they went from """self employed" to "startup" to "office hours"...

From what I've gathered the training like athletes isnt about reaching the same physical intensity. That's why they aren't working out as long nor with more complex workouts. Gaming doesn't capitalize on physical fitness. I think it's more about the parallels of gaining health benefits from a basic physical life style + diet for improved mental health and marketing image, obtaining psychological counseling to improve performance in front of audiences, and being provided with equipment for training. It's more about the resources being pooled in and the investments being made to capitalize on the type of training + marketing that you would see on a similar caliber as professional sports, so the players don't mess up that "fraction of a second" that could change the course of a game and risk losing millions of dollars.

Thumbs up to this vid! A bit late but we just finished our research study about esports and how it should be accepted just like traditional sports i. And this is one of our recommendations, to study more in depth about the physical wellness of esports players to keep them play longer.

Training your reaction time looks like the most important thing to train for competitive gaming.
