Hello and welcome to another video!

In this brief video we take a look at Dingwall Number 2 level crossing which was closed to both pedestrians and road traffic to allow works to be carried out on the crossing deck between 2nd and 6th September 2024.

This crossing is located on the A834 at Mill Street in Dingwall which is the main road between Dingwall, Strathpeffer and the west. The road and pedestrian diversion is a fairly lengthy one with diverting taking the average walker around 30 minutes to walk from one side of the crossing to the other. Questions were raised within the local community as to why these works could not have been carried out during the school holidays a few weeks prior as the town had become gridlocked at school times and the evening rush hour.

This is quite unusual but I'm assuming they're ahead of schedule for the rails to be laid and connected the existing part of the line, following this has meant the work completed to date has passed a necessary standards and safety check and the line reopened.
