I built the Merit Hornet with the KA detail kit with deck. I put the deck down with modgepodge media. I pulled out the tie down strips afterward and used pva glue for the PE strips. It was an epic campaign to build that ship.

Glad to see the detail parts were microwavable and re-heatable :)

The gun fire control radars are MK 33. These provided fire direction for the 5”25 anti aircraft guns

Thanks for this Ben. You've inspired me to make my own Facebook page for my own modelling. So learning from you and some others. Thank you

The availability of 3D printed 20mm cannons is an absolute game changer, I know I'd never finish the 1/200 Iowa without them.

Looking forward to the Pontos review. The KA seems like it set the bar very high!

Great video Ben. I picked up this set not long after it came out and have spent a lot of time “Oohing and Ahhing” over the details. Unfortunately working away from home has prevented me from doing anything more up to this point. I will be following your build up with great interest. As I have The Titanic builds and your previous builds. I’m looking forward to your review of the Pontos set. Should I order it as well? We will see after your review. Keep up the great work. 👍

Great review as always! Depending on the specific era that you're aiming for you may/may not need the boats. It would have been very unusual for a warship to carry those into a war zone. Recall the difference between the number of boats on your Arizona build vs your Missouri project. Pontos appears to be modeling the Enterprise after her late '42 refit by which time the boats, cribs, and handling gear were long gone. Of course, you can always employ "modeler's license" as you did with the Arizona's range clocks. No matter how you proceed it will be a VERY interesting build. I'm 5 hanger deck "wall panels" into my build (Pontos add-on) and there are already numerous "gotchas" that have cropped up. Problem solving on deck!

Not quite sure what to make of this whole thing. So the CV-6 model has Bofors guns, which put her way after Midway time frame wise - late 1942 or early ´43. So why are Devastator torpedo bombers still in the kit? They were all phased out right after Midway and got replaced by Avengers. Santa Cruz and Eastern Salomons were fought with Devastators.
It‘s nice to get them all detailed up even by the KA set, but it‘s sort of a wasted effort in terms of time frame accuracy of the depicted ship model.
I also doubt the wing fuel drop tanks for the F4F Wildcats I briefly saw in the review, but this might be a lack of knowledge on my part.
